On Sunday, August 22, 2021, German Chancellor Angela Merkel plans to visit Ukraine and receive the Order of Freedom from Zelensky's hands. The Federal Government’s Office of Press and Information (BPA) has released a program of her visit.
According to the BPA spokesperson, Merkel will begin her visit to Ukraine with the laying of flowers at the Eternal Glory Memorial at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
After that, the German Chancellor will meet with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. Zelensky will award Merkel with the Order of Liberty, Ukraine’s highest honor.
In addition, the counterparts will discuss issues of bilateral and economic policy between Kyiv and Berlin, the reform process in Ukraine, as well as the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
After that, a joint press conference of Merkel and Zelensky is scheduled.
Merkel will also have a meeting with the Prime Minister Denys Schmyhal in the government palace.
