Biden allocated $60 million to Ukraine before meeting Zelensky: where will the money go?

Before the upcoming meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, President Joe Biden instructed the U.S. State Department to allocate up to $60 million to Ukraine.

This was reported in a memorandum published on the website of the White House on August 27.

It is noted that the Pentagon’s funds will be spent on military training and strengthening Ukrainian military defense and military training.

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including section 301 of title 3, United States Code, I hereby delegate to the Secretary of State the authority under section 506(a)(1) of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 to direct the drawdown of up to $60 million in defense articles and services of the Department of Defense, and military education and training, to provide assistance to Ukraine and to make the determinations required under such section to direct such a drawdown," the document says.
