UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged the world to prevent a Cold War and halt conflicts. He made the comments exclusively for CNN.

According to Guterres, the contradictions between the United States and China are dangerous to the worldand therefore, another Cold Wardue to the strong tensions between the two sides, will be more dangerous than the previous one.

The UN secretary general, António Guterres, warned against the severity of the growing disputes between the United States and China around the world. He called to prevent the outbreak of a new cold war, considering it would be more dangerous.

Guterres told CNN that the situation, which is developing, is going to “indicate that there are two completely opposite countries, which are dangerous for the world.”

Guterres explained that there are many different risks, ranging from the possibility of a “duplication” of the global economy and the emergence of “two conflicting military doctrines”, to the development of artificial intelligence in each country aimed at continuing the races against each other.

He continued: “I think it is necessary to prevent a new Cold War, because the previous Cold War was easier to manage. Today things are more complicated.”

The UN warning comes as fears of a growing confrontation between the United States and China, the world’s two largest economies, grow.
