The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine dismisses Chairman Dmytro Razumkov

On Thursday, October 7, Ukrainian MPs have removed Dmytro Razumkov from the post of the Verkhovna Rada chairman.

Razumkov was elected chairman of the Verkhovna Rada on August 29, 2019.

On October 2, Servant of the People MPs gathered 150 signatures needed to initiate Razumkov's removal from the post.

Razumkov said that he would continue his political activity and didn’t rule out the possibility of running for president in the future.

The MPs voted as follows:

Servant of the People - 215 in favor, 7 against the dismissal;

Opposition Platform – For Life - 0 in favor, 23 against the dismissal;

European Solidarity - 0 in favor, 27 against the dismissal;

Batkivshchyna- 20 in favor, 1 against the dismissal;

Holos - 6 in favor, 9 against the dismissal;

For the Future - 19 in favor, 0 against the dismissal;

Dovira - 18 in favor, 0 against the dismissal.

The Parliament will resume the procedure of selecting the new Chairman tomorrow, on October 8.
