Javelin and more: how the United States will help Ukraine in case of a new invasion of Russia?

In 2021, the United States has granted more security assistance to Ukraine than at any point since 2014.

The deliveries are still ongoing, and it is expected that in the coming weeks Ukraine will receive an additional batch of military assistance from the United States, the U.S. Department of State confirms.

Should Russia further invade Ukraine, we will provide additional defensive material to the Ukrainians above and beyond that which we are already in the process of providing. And I want to add here that along with that support for Ukraine, we are also in the NATO context very actively engaged in planning for the need, the possible need if there were a further military incursion by Russia into Ukraine, to buttress NATO’s eastern flank. So there are several dimensions that we are moving out on simultaneously,” a senior State Department official stated.

According to CNN sources, the U.S. is considering the options to strengthen the ability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to repel the Russian Federation in case of another invasion.

In particular, the Ukrainian army will be supplied with additional ammunition, mortars, Javelin anti-tank missiles, and anti-aircraft missile systems, "which are likely to be delivered by NATO allies".

It's worth noting that Lithuania will provide Ukraine with lethal and non-lethal military assistance, as well as humanitarian support.
