The International Maritime Organization Council has denied Russia membership for 2024-2025.
This was reported by the press service of the IMO.
The Assembly of the International Maritime Organization has elected new members of the IMO Council for 2024-2025: Russia did not get there. The following countries were elected as members of the Council for 2024-2025 in category "A": China, Greece, Italy, Japan, Liberia, Norway, Panama, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the organization's decision "fair" and thanked the IMO members for not electing the aggressor country as a participant of the new council.
"A fair decision, because no one has caused more damage to free navigation in recent decades than Russia," Zelensky wrote on Twitter.
As a reminder, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was laughed out from the audience during his speech at "Izyum Dialogue" conference in India.
