Greece may transfer up to 32 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine if France gives its approval.
This was reported by the Greek edition of News Break.
According to the publication, the Greek government plans to sell 108 fighters that are subject to decommissioning (32 F-16C/-D Block 30, 24 Mirage 2000-5 Mk. 2 and 33 F-4E PI2000). The cost of the 108 fighters could be between 2 and 2.5 billion EUR.
"It is a completely different matter - 32 F-16C/-D Block 30, the transfer of which to Ukraine practically does not raise any doubts. We will remind that during the service, fighters of this type have undergone two design modernizations and have now lost about 60% of their maximum service life on average," the article says.
According to the journalists, it is not as certain where the 24 Mirage 2000-5 Mk.2s, 14 of which are newly built and the rest are modernized Mirage 2000EGM/-BGMs, could go.
"The logical options are the transfer to Ukraine or the sale to India, of course, with the approval of France," the article says.
Earlier, Apostrophe reported that NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has said that after receiving F-16s, Ukraine will have the right for self-defense, including strikes against Russian military targets outside Ukraine.
