Ukraine may start negotiations with Russia: Kuleba named the main condition

Communication with Russia, as well as its participation in peace talks, is possible after the formation of a coalition of countries that share the same principles and approaches to peace processes.

This was stated by the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

He believes that there is no point in inviting Russia to the Global Peace Summit to be held in Switzerland, as it cannot be guaranteed that it will act in good faith.

"There are only two ways to bring Russia to a situation where it will act in good faith. The first is success on the battlefield, and the second is a coalition of countries that share the same principles and approaches. That is why there are no plans to invite Russia to the Summit as a participant. Because the goal of this Summit is to unite countries that share the principles and approaches on which they will build further actions," the diplomat said.

Kuleba added that when the coalition of countries is formed, communication with Russia can then take place, and Russia can be part of the negotiations.

As a reminder, the Swiss government agreed to organize a peace conference during Volodymyr Zelensky's visit in January. Russia, which was not invited to the Summit, said that the peace talks on Ukraine scheduled for June in Switzerland would be pointless without Russia's participation. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that any actions regarding Ukraine that "ignore Russia's position" are "disconnected from reality." The conference, which the Ukrainian government calls the Global Peace Summit, will take place on June 15-16. It is expected to be attended by 80 to 100 countries.
