Scholz asks not to call Germany "new Hungary" for blocking sanctions against Russia

Germany opposed the ban on re-exporting Russian liquefied natural gas through European terminals. At the same time, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz rejected accusations that Germany is a "new Hungary".

This was reported by Politico.

"It's about how we can make sure that the German economy can carry out its activities and at the same time make sure that goods that are delivered somewhere in South America, in an Asian country or in Africa, don't end up in Russia in a roundabout way, where they shouldn't be," Scholz said.

The Chancellor also responded to a comparison of Hungary's and Germany's positions, referring to Budapest's practice of blocking previous sanctions packages.

"It's complete nonsense. We want to find a solution," he said.

Earlier, we wrote that the new US sanctions caused panic in Russia.
