Possibility of sending DPRK troops to Ukraine: Pentagon's response

The U.S. Department of Defense will monitor the possible movement of North Korean troops to Russia to participate in the war against Ukraine.

This was stated by Pentagon Spokesperson General Patrick Ryder.

"That's certainly something to keep an eye on," he said in response to a request to comment on the possibility of sending DPRK troops to the battlefield in Ukraine.

At the same time, Ryder noted that North Korea's military leadership should consider whether it is worth spending its own military as "cannon fodder" for Russia's war against Ukraine if such a request arises.

"I think that if I were North Korean military personnel management, I would be questioning my choices on sending my forces to be cannon fodder in an illegal war against Ukraine," he said.

Earlier, North Korea released the text of the agreement signed with Russia during Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's visit to Pyongyang on June 19. It provides for immediate military assistance in the event of armed aggression against one of the parties.
