The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called the Russian strike on Kryvyi Rih on April 4 a demonstration of complete disregard for international peace efforts under the leadership of US President Donald Trump. Russia has once again committed a war crime and grossly violated international humanitarian law.
This is stated in the official statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Foreign Ministry noted that the strike by an Iskander-M ballistic missile on a residential area, which killed 18 people, including 9 children, shocked Ukraine and the world with its particular cruelty. The ballistic missile, which was directed against ordinary residential buildings, playgrounds and other civilian infrastructure, had a cluster warhead for maximum damage to people.
The Foreign Ministry rejected claims that the Russian Federation allegedly struck a military target, as the facts from the crime scene indicate that there were no such targets. The goal was terror against civilians.
"This strike is another war crime and a gross violation of international humanitarian law. With this barbaric strike against Ukrainian civilians and children, Russia demonstrates complete disregard for international peace efforts under the leadership of US President Donald Trump. This is a signal from Moscow to Washington that Putin will continue the war and kill Ukrainians until he feels another level of pressure and force. Ukraine was and is committed to peace efforts and has taken concrete steps towards peace, unlike Russia, which continues to stall and commit atrocities," the statement said.
Ukraine has informed all partners and international organizations about the details of the Russian strike on Kryvyi Rih on April 4, the type of missile used, and the consequences.
The Foreign Ministry called for clear public reactions, condemnation of Russian atrocities, and concrete actions to increase pressure on Moscow and strengthen Ukraine, including strengthening air defense and military assistance to protect Ukrainians.
Ukraine also initiated the convening of meetings of a number of international organizations to appropriately respond to the shelling of Kryvyi Rih and the constant shelling of residential areas of other cities.
"Ukraine, together with international partners, continues to document Russian crimes and work to ensure the inevitable punishment of Russian criminals for all their atrocities against Ukraine and Ukrainians," the department added.
As a reminder, 18 people were killed in a missile strike on Kryvyi Rih, 9 of whom were children . More than 60 people were injured, some of them in serious condition.
