On April 11, representatives of Western countries gathered in Brussels for a regular meeting of the Contact Group on Defense Issues in Ukraine in the "Ramstein" format. During the event, they announced the provision of military support to Kyiv in the amount of over 21 billion euros.
This was announced by British Defense Minister John Healy during a press conference.
He noted that he was satisfied with the results of the meeting, where Ukraine was promised additional assistance.
"Minister Pistorius and I co-hosted today's meeting. 51 countries and partners were involved in the Contact Group, from Europe, the Indo-Pacific region and South America. The new military assistance commitments announced today within the Contact Group amount to over €21 billion," the British Defense Secretary said.
In particular, Britain will provide £4.5 billion to Ukraine this year, a record amount in history. He announced the allocation of £350 million (about €400 million) so that the funds can be used now for the Ukrainian army on the front line.
"The package includes radar systems, anti-tank mines and hundreds and thousands of new drones," Gili said.
Also, 150 million pounds sterling (up to 170 million euros) will be provided for the repair and maintenance of military equipment, as part of a new effort aimed at repairing 3,000 Ukrainian vehicles that could be returned to the fight against Russia in the coming months.
In addition, at the Ramstein meeting, a "coalition of capabilities" was created regarding electronic warfare, which will focus on the procurement of equipment, education and training of specialists, and the development of policies and doctrines in this area.
This is the ninth coalition created within the Ramstein format. 11 countries, including Ukraine, have joined it.
As Apostrophe wrote, on April 9, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated at a meeting with media representatives that Ukraine had appealed to the United States to purchase a large package of aid for the Armed Forces . The Ukrainian side is ready to consider this a security guarantee.
