Zelenskyy introduced a number of new sanctions, including against traitors to Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has introduced a number of new sanctions restrictions against Russia, including Russian propaganda organizations.

This is evidenced by the relevant decrees No. 229/2025, No. 230/2025.

Thus, the head of state put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of April 11, 2025 "On the application of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)". In particular, the sanctions were extended to 130 citizens, including Russians and Chinese. The restrictions also affected 18 legal entities.

The sanctions concern, in particular, propaganda media and organizations of the Russian Federation, including the project of the associate of the Russian dictator, traitor Viktor Medvedchuk, "Drugaya Ukraina", which is a public non-religious organization in the Russian Federation. "Drugaya Ukraina" is joined by political analysts from already closed pro-Russian TV channels, city council deputies from the OPZH, and political strategists accused of treason.

In addition, the following were subject to sanctions:

  • Russian propagandist and correspondent for "Russia 1" Alexander Sladkov;
  • Russian journalist and propagandist Arina Sharapova;
  • Ukrainian political strategist and pro-Russian propagandist Vadim Karasev;
  • Russian producer of Ukrainian origin Yuriy Bardash.

Restrictions were also imposed on resources that carried out propaganda activities in the occupied territories, such as "Khersonka.Ru", "Readovka.Ru", "Pravda.Ru", "Tavria Television and Radio Company". Sanctions were also imposed against Belarusian propaganda organizations.

As President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the introduction of sanctions, sanctions pressure has been increased against Russian propagandists and the Russian "shadow fleet".

"New sanctions steps. We are increasing pressure on war propagandists and those who justify Russia, and together with partners we are blocking the activities of the Russian "shadow fleet". The relevant decrees are already on the website," the president emphasized, adding that he is preparing another decree from the National Security and Defense Council regarding functionaries.

We also wrote that in 2025, US leader Donald Trump extended sanctions against Russia for another year due to its violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and threatened to tighten restrictions if Russia did not make peace.
