Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has proposed to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to join a format for a complete and unconditional ceasefire for a period of 30 days.
The head of state announced this in an evening video address.
According to him, the proposal for a format of complete and unconditional silence has remained unanswered by the Russian Federation for 39 days. Ukraine received the corresponding proposal from the United States positively, but Russia ignored it.
He noted that in case of agreement, Ukraine will act in a mirror image of the actions of the Russian side.
"Silence in response to silence, blows to protect against blows. If complete silence really prevails, Ukraine proposes to extend it beyond the Easter period on April 20. This will show Russia's true intentions, because 30 hours is enough for headlines, but not for real confidence-building measures. Thirty days can give peace a chance," the president said.
He also noted that so far, according to the report of Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky, Russian assault operations are continuing in some areas of the front and enemy artillery is not abating. In this regard, there is no trust in the words of the Kremlin leader.
"We know too well how Moscow manipulates, and we are always ready for anything. The Ukrainian Defense Forces will act rationally, responding in a mirror manner. There will be an adequate response to every Russian strike. At 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., I expect detailed reports from the Chief of Staff after his communication with brigade commanders and other units on the front line... ", the head of state added.
As Apostrophe reported, on April 19, the Russian dictator declared an Easter truce. According to it, the Russian occupiers must stop all hostilities from 6:00 p.m. on April 19 to 12:00 a.m. on April 21. He stated that the course of the truce would show "Ukraine's readiness to resolve the issue peacefully."
