"This is an unattainable goal": Kellogg on Ukraine not becoming part of NATO

The United States President's Special Representative for Ukraine, General Keith Kellogg, called Ukraine's desire to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) an unattainable goal.

The special envoy reported this on Fox News.

In this context, he noted that Ukraine will not become part of NATO, as this is the position of the United States. He also emphasized that this has been known since 2008.

"We have made it very clear: NATO is out of the question. You will not be part of NATO. This is not a new idea. We have been saying this since 2008, when Burns told Condoleezza Rice that this was an unattainable goal," Kellogg said.

He also stated that the new US president has done more in 90 days to resolve the largest war in Europe since World War II than in at least the previous 900 days.

"He leads it to solutions... Don't give him a problem if you don't have a solution. And I think we have a pretty good solution," he noted.

The Special Representative noted that the minerals agreement is one such good solution.

"We are also moving towards a comprehensive ceasefire. When I say a comprehensive ceasefire, I mean sea, air, land, industry, and for a period of at least 30 days. And then it moves to a longer-term peace agreement, a permanent peace treaty as well. And I think we are on a good path," he said.

He added that Trump's team will arrive again in London, where negotiations will be held to resolve the issue of a ceasefire in Ukraine.

As Apostrophe wrote, on June 17, the United States presented its allies with a plan for a ceasefire in Ukraine , which envisages maintaining Russian control over the occupied territories. According to Bloomberg, it envisages easing sanctions against Russia, as well as abandoning plans to admit Ukraine to NATO.
