"Many times better." What has changed in the draft agreement on minerals between the US and Ukraine

The subsoil agreement between Ukraine and the United States will not include aid provided to Ukraine by the United States of America prior to the signing of the agreement. In general, the entire logic of the future Fund is changing.

This was reported by People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

"Therefore, it will not be so important here which of the countries provided what assistance before, since in fact there will be no payments (in the near future, that's for sure). Only reinvestment," he said.

According to Zheleznyak, the draft agreement currently being discussed is much better than the one provided to the US on March 23.

"In short: it's about future investment projects and the profits from them. Not current and direct taxes, as it was. No nuclear power plants, ports (current) or gas transportation system. I would say it's definitely OK for us, you could even say somewhere that it's profitable (if you believe in miracles and that the lack of such an agreement is an obstacle to investment)," the People's Deputy noted.

The only issue, according to Zheleznyak, currently remains the Fund's management structure.

According to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, there is good progress in the agreement between the US and Ukraine.

"The main thing is that we have clearly defined our red lines, the agreement must comply with European obligations, and also not contradict the Constitution and legislation of Ukraine. It must be ratified by the parliament. Agreements have been reached that the document does not include assistance provided before its signing," he noted.

As a reminder, on April 18, the text of the memorandum between the United States of America and Ukraine on intentions to conclude a formal agreement on economic partnership and a reconstruction investment fund was published .
