"The Moscow Fuhrer's Resuscitator." Why Trump Will Not Be Able to Walk Away from Negotiations on Russia and Ukraine

Ukrainian diplomat Roman Bezsmertny believes that US President Donald Trump will no longer be able to walk away from negotiations to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Bezsmertny spoke about this on May 2, 2025 on "Apostrophe TV".

"Here he got into this Moscow quagmire and the Fuhrer (Vladimir Putin — ed.) will not let him go. Because we must understand that Donald Trump is both the resuscitator of the Fuhrer of Moscow and his lawyer. And, in fact, this is the reason that no one in Moscow will let either the State Department or the Trump administration out of this situation. They will play Donald Trump. And he, as a person who understands little about these international and political nuances, will suffer in this quagmire, saying one thing or another. It is clear that neither Rubio's position nor Kellogg's position will influence him, and even less so Vance's position. They are all trying to run in his orbit, without even telling him the truth," the Ukrainian diplomat noted.

In this regard, it is worth noting that, according to the statements of the US State Department, the States plans to "change the approach" to attempts to stop the war in Ukraine, namely, they want to take a less active role. State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce during a briefing recalled the words of Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding US plans to "change the approach" to its attempts to bring the war to an end.

"The methodology of how we contribute to this will change, we will not be mediators. That's what I mentioned on Tuesday. The nature of how it will change is that we are still committed to this and are committed to doing and doing what we can. But we are not going to fly around the world at the first call and be a mediator of meetings, it is now between the two parties," she said.

At the same time, let us recall how US Vice President J.D. Vance stated that, in his opinion, the war in Ukraine "will not end anytime soon."
