The United States Chargé d'Affaires ai to Ukraine, Julie Davis, noted the importance of the US-Ukrainian Reconstruction Investment Fund during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy.
The diplomat emphasized this during a visit to Kyiv on May 6.
According to Davis, US President Donald Trump sees this partnership between the countries as a testament to both sides' commitment to a just peace and prosperity in Ukraine. And the committee's decision to put the bill to a vote on May 8 was an important step.
"...now the task of the Verkhovna Rada is to maintain the momentum," Davis commented.
It is worth noting that this is about the need to ratify the agreement between Ukraine and the United States in the Verkhovna Rada.
Thus, the agreement "On the Establishment of the American-Ukrainian Investment Fund for Reconstruction" also concerns 57 minerals. However, a number of issues remain unspecified.
The bilateral agreement, signed recently in Washington, sets out the political parameters for cooperation between the two governments on mineral exploration and mineral sales. It also mentions the American assistance, including military assistance, that Ukraine will receive in the future.
During the negotiations, Ukraine and the United States decided to again divide the agreement into several components:
- Agreement between DFC and the Agency from Ukraine (after ratification)
- The technical part, how it will work and be distributed.
As Apostrophe wrote, Ambassador Davis met with the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak . In particular, the politicians touched on the issues of supporting peace and creating a reconstruction investment fund.
