Was under the fire in the Donbas: what is known about the commander of Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh

In Nagorno-Karabakh, where the presidents of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia have signed an agreement on the cessation of hostilities, the Russian Defense Ministry is deploying its peacekeepers. The contingent will be led by Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov, who took part in the war in the Donbas and even received fire during the hostilities. This was reported by the BBC Russian Service.

Information about Muradov's appointment in Armenia was received with extreme caution, as he was born in a Dagestani village with a predominantly Azerbaijani population.

In 1996, when Muradov was 23 years old, he received the Order of Courage after an operation of capturing the Upper Mentor in Chechnya. Back then Lieutenant Muradov commanded the reconnaissance of the 136th Brigade in Buynaksk. Until 2009, Muradov continued to serve in Chechnya, commanding the 17th Motorized Rifle Brigade in Shali and then moved on rotation to Transbaikalia.

As commander of the 36th Lozova Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Eastern Military District, Muradov received the rank of Major General and the Order of Military Merit, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has personally awarded him.

In 2014, when the war broke out in Donbas, Muradov was studying at the General Staff Military Academy, and in 2016 he was appointed Russia's representative to the Joint Russian-Ukrainian Ceasefire Control Center (CSCC).

In March 2016, Muradov received fire near Yasynuvata. Russian militants then reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are "fired RPG, large-calibre machine guns, anti-aircraft guns and small arms at a representative of the SCCC from the Russian side, Major General Muradov."

“The representative of the SCCC on the Ukrainian side, Major General Taran, knew exactly the whereabouts of General Muradov” - - declared one of the DNR leaders Eduard Basurin.

In 2017, General Muradov as a military adviser went to Syria, where he commanded Russian troops in the area of Deir Ez-Zor, for what he was awarded the Star of the Hero of Russia in Kremlin by Vladimir Putin. After returning from Syria, General Muradov commanded the 2nd General Army of the Central Military District, which included a peacekeeping brigade which is now stationed in Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to Apostrophe, on November 10, three planes with Russian peacekeepers and military equipment arrived at the Erebuni joint base of Armenia and Russia, located near the Armenian capital Yerevan.
