Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets demands an investigation into the activities of the Russian Red Cross for violating the principle of neutrality and supporting Russian aggression against Ukraine.
The Ombudsman wrote about this in Telegram.
"Recently, information emerged online that the president of the Russian Red Cross (RRC) has ties to a pro-Putin "patriotic" organization, and RRC employees talk about the impossibility of peace with "Ukrainian Nazis"," the statement said.
It is noted that the RCC participates in military training camps for children, where the ideology of war against Ukraine is promoted.
"It is also possible that the Russian Federation aims to have new organizations of the Russian Red Cross to work in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, which will be funded from Russia," the Ombudsman said.
Dmytro Lubinets emphasized that he had sent a letter to the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent demanding that:
- these actions should be publicly condemned;
- a transparent investigation into the actions of the Russian Red Cross was conducted;
- the RCC's membership and participation in the community should be suspended during the investigation;
- if the investigation confirms the allegations, demand that the company should be expelled from the federation.
We should add that there are no comments on this situation on the official website of the International Federation of the Red Cross.
