In USA, Baltimore BGE building has exploded: there are victims

On Wednesday, December 23, there was a powerful explosion in a high-rise office building in Baltimore.

This was reported on Twitter by the local fire department.

The explosion of BGE building downtown caused a partial roof collapse. Ten people were hospitalized following the accident.

"The city fire service is at the scene. Nine people were taken to the nearest hospital in critical condition and another had a serious condition," Baltimore City Fire Department said.

The AP News agency updated the information later adding that as a result of the explosion twenty-three people were injured. Twenty-one of the victims — all construction workers — were brought to area hospitals following the accident and a window-washing crew was temporarily trapped on dangling scaffolding. Two trapped workers were rescued through a window.

The firefighters’ union tweeted that evidence points to an explosion on the 16th floor of the downtown building, where the offices of Baltimore Gas and Electric Company are located. However, the exact cause of the explosion remains under investigation. Utility spokeswoman Stephanie Anne Weaver said work on the building’s “air handling and boiler system” likely caused the accident.

As was reported by "Apostrophe", in early 2020, in the American city of Houston there was another powerful explosion. It was so strong that in the surrounding houses the windows in the windows shattered and the stretch ceilings collapsed.
