Ukrainian volunteer and blogger Serhiy Sternenko reported that he was attacked.
According to him, he was injured.
"I was attacked. Injured," he wrote on Thursday, May 1.
The volunteer later clarified that there was no threat to his life. In a voice message posted on Telegram, Serhiy Sternenko noted that he had received a minor injury.
Over time, he also noted that the attacker was detained by the Security Service of Ukraine.
"The attacker was detained. Thank you to the SBU for the lightning-fast reaction. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't be able to write anything. They literally saved my life," the message says .
The SBU press service commented on the attack on the volunteer and activist:
"The SBU prevented the murder of activist and volunteer Serhiy Sternenko and detained the attacker. Security Service employees prevented the murder of a well-known public activist and volunteer Serhiy Sternenko. Today, he was attacked with a firearm. Thanks to the professional and immediate actions of the SBU employees, the attacker was detained on the spot."
The security service also assures that Serhiy Sternenko's life is currently not in danger.
Operational and investigative measures are ongoing. They promise to provide separate information on the progress of the situation.
