Russia modernized these aircraft in recent years. The Russian Ministry of Defense has upgraded five Il-22M11 control and relay aircraft, spending RUB 1.6 billion on repairs and upgrades, as stated in the contract. The modernization of each of the five aircraft cost between 310 and 333 million rubles.
