Russian spy in a cassock: SBU detains a Moscow Patriarchate priest of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has reported suspicion of a cleric of the UOC-MP who organized provocations in Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

This is stated in the post of the SBU in the Telegram-channel.

The Security Service documented the subversive activities of the hierodeacon of the UOC (MP), who acted in favor of the aggressor country. According to the investigation, the figure is one of the closest associates of Metropolitan Pavlo (Lebed) and is involved in the organization of mass provocations in Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in the spring of 2023.

"Under the guise of "protest actions", the cleric hoped to shake up the social and political situation in Kyiv as much as possible. To do this, he remotely coordinated his actions with the pro-Kremlin blogger Shariy, who is suspected of treason", - stated in the message.

In particular, the SBU employees discovered during the investigation that the enemy propagandist "instructed" the hierodeacon to record and distribute provocative videos of fake riots near the Lavra. The filmed streamings were immediately picked up by Russian TV channels and Internet resources to spread distorted information about the internal situation in Ukraine, particularly for international audiences.

In addition, in correspondence with believers, the cleric justified Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine and praised Russia's top military and political leadership. At the same time, the figure regularly tried to discredit the Defense Forces, including the defenders of Mariupol.

The SBU reports: "Initiated forensic examination confirmed the facts of his subversive activities. During searches at the cleric's place of residence, computer equipment, more than ten cell phones and almost 300 SIM cards with evidence of criminal actions were found."

Therefore, on the basis of the received materials, investigators of the Security Service informed the defendant of suspicion under part 1 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification, recognition of legitimate, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

Further investigation will continue to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The perpetrator is facing prison term.

Earlier "Aportrophe" wrote that SBU arrested a church chorister of the UOC (MP) in Zaporizhzhia, who was guiding the occupiers' missiles at the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
