Russians shot Ukrainian soldiers who were surrendering as prisoners of war: official statement of the Ombudsman

Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets confirmed the information about the shooting of Ukrainian soldiers who were surrendering.

He wrote about it in Telegram.

According to him, another war crime allegedly occurred on February 24, 2024 in Bakhmut district.

"The video we managed to get shows Ukrainian soldiers surrendering: their hands were raised in the air, showing that they were unarmed and did not pose a threat. Russians were supposed to take them prisoner, but instead they shot them without mercy," the Ombudsman said.

According to him, the exact number of Ukrainians executed by Russians is unknown. Probably there were at least seven of them. These were servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
