The Ukrainian army has destroyed a Russian S-500 air defence missile system developed by Almaz-Antey.
This was reported by the Tivaz Artillery Group on June 28.
The strike was carried out with an ATACMS missile. The comments noted that the SAM was destroyed in Donbas.
The S-500 is a new generation of air defence missile systems, which uses the principle of separate destruction of ballistic and aerodynamic targets. The main task of the air defense system is to combat the warheads of medium-range ballistic missiles. It can independently intercept missiles with a launch range of up to 3,500 km. The price of such a SAM is about $600 million.
