Russia uses drone simulators to exhaust our air defense forces. However, Ukrainian defenders are learning to recognize them.
Yuriy Ignat, spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this in a comment to Apostrophe.
" Usually a little less than half of the drones are simulator drones. This [the enemy does] to complicate the air situation and overload air defense systems. People work every day under enormous stress. There is a catastrophic shortage of people - both at the front and in the Air Force ," he said.
As Ignat clarified, it is difficult to immediately recognize a "deception" because such a drone is equipped with a special device that makes it look like a Shahed on radar.
" If there is an understanding that this is a simulator, of course, expensive funds will not be spent on it... It will fall somewhere and be considered lost in terms of location, as happens every day ," the publication's interlocutor noted. " The defense forces already know, possessing such information, have learned to distinguish what kind of drone it is at a particular stage and section of the flight ."
As a reminder, on March 21, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck a location of Russian occupiers in Toretsk, Donetsk region. As a result, it was possible to eliminate the enemy's airborne assault groups and UAV operators.
