A Kyiv resident who killed a dog in the Dnipro district of the capital by throwing the animal down the stairs was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office .
A 31-year-old Kyiv resident was sentenced for cruel treatment of a stray dog, which led to the animal's death. The man has already been held criminally liable several times. And now he has been sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison for this crime.
The prosecutor's office recalled that the suspect, who lived with his roommate, her two sons and their 11-month-old daughter, brought a stray dog, Milka, to the apartment and later began pushing her out into the hallway. The man kicked the dog, and then, holding his daughter in his arms, threw the dog down the stairs, after which he began beating the dog again.
The dog died as a result of numerous injuries to its internal organs, sustained from the blows and fall, and from fatal blood loss. This was confirmed by the examinations conducted. Footage of the cruel treatment of the animal was recorded by surveillance cameras in the house.
"The accused himself did not admit his guilt in court, but admitted that he did push the dog down the stairs. But he stated that someone else, possibly the neighbors, killed it. His words were refuted by the conclusions of the examinations. The accused will be behind bars until the verdict enters into legal force," the prosecutors added.
We previously reported that a resident of one of the residential complexes in Kyiv was mocking her dog - raising her hand at it, swearing at it, and accusing neighbors , who filmed the animal's torture, of slander.
