For the first time, China's Chang'e-5 successfully landed on the Moon

The Chang'e-5 probe successfully landed on the near side of the Moon.

According to CGTN, on Tuesday, this was announced by the China National Space Administration (CNSA)

The landing site is located in the Ocean of Storms. In the next two days, the lender will collect about 2 kilograms of lunar samples, which is the parimaty goal of the Chang’e-5. The lander will shovel some surface material and also drill a 2-meter-deep hole and scoop up the soil from inside it. This is an untouched place that has never been visited by human being or spacecraft, which means samples from here can offer new information, according to CNSA.

The mission at the station is scheduled for 23 days. The device is not equipped with radioisotope heaters designed for cold lunar nights. Therefore, directly on the surface of the Moon, the lander will spend no more than one lunar day (14 Earth days) until there is light in the landing site.

The lunar surface samples will be delivered at the Earth in almost half a century for the first time. The last landing on the Moon was conducted in 1976 by the Soviet automatic interplanetary station "Moon-24", which has delivered home 170 grams of Moon soil.

The lunar soil samples will be sent in a capsule to the orbital module, which, in turn, will ensure the landing in the Chinese province of Inner Mongolia. Thus, China will become the third country to bring lunar soil to Earth.

As was reported by "Apostrophe", earlier scientists discovered the water molecules in the Moon’s crater of Clavia. Experts have found out that a cubic meter of the lunar soil contains water with a volume of about 0.3 litres.
