Putin says the Israeli-Palestine escalation poses a threat to Russia’s security

On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres appealed called for an end to fighting between Israel and Palestinians, the Kremlin said.

"In light of the escalation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, it was noted that the main goal is to stop violent acts from both sides and ensure the safety of the civilian population," the Kremlin said in a statement.

In addition, Putin claimed that the "Palestinian-Israeli conflict directly affects Russia's security interests", which is interesting because Russia is located over two thousand kilometers from Israel.

"I would like to ask my colleagues to comment on the current situation in the Middle East, I mean the escalated Palestinian-Israeli conflict – this is happening in the immediate vicinity of our borders and directly affects our security interests," he said.
