Genie is out of the bottle – Why Washington's Policy Delights Putin

The US reluctance to decisively strike dictators has led to international escalation

A large-scale combined attack by Iran on Israel at night on April 14, was repelled by the joint forces of the IDF, the United States, Great Britain and other European countries.Nevertheless,it underscores broader concerns about Washington's strategy on Middle East in particular and Eurasia in general. In his column Apostrophe's editor-in-chief Denys Popovych delves into the ramifications of the West's current policy of appeasement and its direct threat to Ukraine.

All the current dynamics between Iran and Israel is the direct consequences of the West flirting with Putin. ‘Doves of peace’ in Washington calculated for a very long time, how to break Russia against Ukraine without spending extra money and preventing Ukraine from winning the war, which would be even more frightening.

Let’s wait and see, whether Kyiv will fall.

It didn’t?

Well, let's throw in some artillery and MLRS, but with utmost care so not to kill (God forbid) an extra hundred Russians.

Missiles cannot target Russian territory. How about providing Ukraine with ATACMS? Let's first calculate to ensure no rocket debris reaches some conditional Whacktown. It might be safer not to provide them at all, considering the risks.

Tel Aviv attempted to forge alliances with both Moscow and Washington, hoping for financial support. Unfortunately, they still did not help, blocking the aid in the House of Representatives (along with the Ukrainian share) and forcing the Gaza operation to be curtailed.

Simultaneously, Russia sought allies, compensating them with gold and cash for Shahed drones, deploying these UAVs in Ukraine. Iran, in turn, refined its tactics based on this experience and used the proceeds to enhance its weaponry.

Just as the Berlin-Rome-Tokyo Axis emerged 80 years ago, now we have the Moscow-Pyongyang-Tehran axis.

Note, that North Korea has not raised its head yet.

The rockets and drones targeting Israel are a consequence of the United States' political shortsightedness, unmatched since the onset of World War II. Just as they failed to decisively deal with Hitler in time, they now hesitated to finish off Putin.

Israel indeed retaliated this time. However, the genie is already out of the bottle. One wonders what more is required for the collective West to grasp this reality.

It's noteworthy that despite the strikes on Israel, the US displays a reluctance to grasp the repercussions. While Israel received aid to retaliate, White House suggests Israel to hesitate to strike back. Like, we don't support it.

If strikes against Iran are off the table, why wouldn't North Korea seize the opportunity to step into the spotlight? Similar excuses could be found for targeting neighbors like Seoul or Japan.

This plays right into Moscow's hands. It provides another opportunity to divert global attention from the crimes in Ukraine. Additionally, escalating conflicts elsewhere allows for increased strikes on peaceful Ukrainian cities. And in Washington, meanwhile, they will throw up their hands.Like the old mare from the Russian anecdote, whoused to be a championand promised to win the race, came to the finish line last, and then sighed -'Well, I couldn't, I just couldn't!'.
