Investors in the Ukrainian economy: success stories

Foreign companies tend to be less than enthusiastic about investing in the Ukrainian economy. However, there is a series of impressive successful investment stories, as was reported by Apostrophe.

In particular, one of the examples is the Chumak company, which has started producing the first-ever ketchup in Ukraine in the mid-90s. Chumak was established by Swedish entrepreneurs Johan Bodén, Carl Sturén and Hans Rausing.

Today, Chumak is also producing various sauces, mayonnaise, oil, pasta, juices, and other goods.

Sandora juices serve as another success story. The company was established by two Lithuanian businessmen, Raimondas Tumėnas and Igor Bezzub, as well as Sergey Sypko from Ukraine.

In 2007, PepsiCo bought out Sandora for 750 million USD. However, the Lithuanian businessmen continued working in Ukraine, focusing on several retail and development businesses. Their most famous Ukrainian project is a chain of supermarkets called Novus, counting 46 supermarkets across Ukraine.

As Apostrophe reported earlier, the owner of the Novus chain buys Billa-Ukraine.
