Ukraine's state budget includes $37 billion in Western aid. It is the amount needed this year for the state's functioning.
This was told on the air of Apostrophe TV by the Danylo Hetmantsev, Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy.
"Last year, we received about $42 billion in aid from Western partners, which consisted of both grants (mainly from the US) and soft loans from the EU and European governments. If we talk about the current year 2024, we have a budgeted amount of Western aid of $37 billion. This is the amount we need for the current year. For part of this amount, we already have political confirmation regarding the sources of financing from the IMF, with which we interact in accordance to the adopted program, as well as from the World Bank, the European Commission (Ukraine Facility program in the amount of $50 billion, which should be voted at the EU Summit in February), as well as assistance from the United States," Hetmantsev said.
He emphasized that it should be borne in mind that there are no discussions in Washington now whether to help Ukraine or not. There are discussions in the United States regarding exactly the order of assistance to our country.
"We understand that there is support from both parties in Congress, but everything is bogged down in their internal contradictions regarding migration policy on the southern border of the United States. We are frustrated by this, but we understand that in 2024 the US aid, one way or another, will be received in full," - said Hetmantsev.
Earlier "Apostrophe" reported that EU is planning to adopt an agreement on a €50bn aid package for Ukraine, even despite Hungary's blockage.
