Volodymyr Yelchenko has been officially appointed as Ukraine’s ambassador to the US

On December 18, former Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Volodymyr Yelchenko has been officially appointed as Ukraine’s new ambassador to the US.

Born in Kyiv, Yelchenko graduated from the Faculty of International Relations and International Law at Kyiv State University in 1981.

After having graduated from the university, Yelchenko worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He’s considered one of Ukraine’s most experienced diplomats. Throughout his career, Mr. Yelchenko has served as a representative to the UN, as well as ambassador to Austria and Russia. On March 17 of 2014, during 2014 Crimean crisis, Yelchenko was recalled from Moscow due to the occupation of Crimea.
