In light of the upcoming Senate trial, House Democrats released new integral evidence for the impeachment case. It includes text messages, handwritten notes, and other correspondence from Lev Parnas, Rudy Giuliani’s indicted associate. The new materials suggest Mr. Parnas led an active campaign to dig up dirt on the Biden family in Ukraine.
The documents were sent to the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday and are “to be included as part of the official record that will be transmitted to the Senate along with the Articles of Impeachment”. The House is expected to send the articles to the Senate on Wednesday.
According to a statement issued by the chairs of Intelligence, Oversight, and Foreign Affairs committees, “All of this new evidence confirms what we already know: the President and his associates pressured Ukrainian officials to announce investigations that would benefit the President politically”.
The new documents include Rudy Giuliani’s letter to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, requesting a meeting.
“In my capacity as personal counsel to President Trump and with his knowledge and consent, I request a meeting with you on this upcoming Monday, May 13th or Tuesday, May 14th,” the letter reads.
New York’s former mayor has also stated he would be “accompanied by Victoria Toensing”. Joe diGenova and Victoria Toensing are Trump-allied lawyers on Dmitry Firtash’s legal team, who replaced Lanny Davis and have been aiding Mr. Firtash in fighting the US Justice Department’s charges. Lev Parnas’ notes also involve what appears to be a Joe/Victoria vs. Lanny Davis comparison table, stating “Get rid of Lanny Davis (nicely)”.
Mr. Parnas’ has also jotted down what looks like a to-do list:
- “Get Zelensky to announce that the Biden case will be investigated”, which confirms the testimonies of House witnesses;
- “Start commun[ication] with Zelensky without Pinchuk or Kolomoisky”;0
- “Put together package to go to D.C. with package”;
- “Do my “magic” and cut deal”;
- “Victoria/Joe retained”, referring to Victoria Toensing and Joe diGenova;
- “Hire Robert Stryk or Brian Ballard”, with both being lobbyists.
