US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is scheduled to visit Kyiv next week, amid the heated impeachment trial in the Senate.
According to three BuzzFeed diplomatic sources, Pompeo will travel to Ukraine next Friday, January 31. He is supposed to meet with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose conversation with Donald Trump serves as a focal point of the impeachment procedure.
Pompeo was scheduled to visit Kyiv at the beginning of January, yet the trip was postponed due to progressing tensions with Iran.
As “Apostrophe” reported earlier, Ukraine announced an investigation into possible surveillance of Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch after the release of disturbing documents from Lev Parnas.
