At the Age of Crimea Forum 2020, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Crimea won’t serve as a bargaining chip in the country’s negotiations with Russia on settling the conflict in Donbas.
“We are doing everything to stop the war in the Donbas. Crimea is not removed from the agenda and is not a price for peace. We will open the Administrative Service Center, Recreation Area and other facilities,” the President said.
According to Zelensky, Ukraine will also introduce a new holiday. On February 26, the country will celebrate the Day of Crimea’s Resistance to the Russian Occupation.
“6 years ago, Russia occupied Crimea. We realised that we live in a world where memoranda are worthless; the systems of international law and security are vulnerable... Together with Turkey, we will build 500 apartments for internally displaced people from Crimea. We will ensure better access to education for the Crimean youth. We will provide access to objective media in Crimea.
Crimea's return to Ukraine is not just my goal as a President or an attitude as a citizen. It is not just our common dream. This is a guarantee of global security. It is a restoration of faith. Faith in international law and justice,” the Ukrainian president concluded and summarized on his Twitter page.
As “Apostrophe” reported earlier, the White House extended sanctions against Russia for another year.
