The US Embassy in Ukraine stated that a telephone conversation between US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will definitely take place "without any preconditions", as was highlighted by the U.S. Embassy Representative Daniel Langenkamp at the information request of “Evropeyska Pravda”.
Mr. Langenkamp expressed his confidence that the call between the two presidents shall definitely take place, as Biden has taken several obligations for international cooperation. Therefore, he is a "loyal friend of Ukraine".
"It is noteworthy that the current U.S. administration pays a lot of attention to Ukraine... Secretary of State Blinken held talks with the Ukrainian Prime Minister Kuleba on February 1, almost immediately after his appointment. Ukrainian Defense Secretary Taran spoke with his American college Austin on February 19. Several other high-ranking officials have also already contacted or have planned the negotiations," the Embassy noted.
Langenkamp also recalled the White House and the State Department statements expressing support for Ukraine on the anniversary of the illegal annexation of Crimea, as well as the provision of a security tranche to Ukraine in March.
"Ukraine is our partner, and in partnership relations, we do not put forward requirements and there are no prerequisites for dialogue. But we are inspired by how Zelensky has resorted to powerful measured against dishonest interests in recent weeks, which are still pulling Ukraine down," he said, adding that there are no conditions for Zelensky's future conversation with President Biden.
At the same time, Langenkamp explained that the reason for a delay in the Biden-Zelensky phone conversation lies in the fact that "President Biden is now very focused on domestic challenges, including the pandemic".
“But the conversation will take place, we are convinced,” he added.
