Dmitrii Peskov, press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, spoke about the concentration of Russian military forces near the Ukrainian border. He said that it allegedly does not threaten anyone and the troops will remain on the border as long as the Russian leadership deems necessary.
This was reported by Interfax.
"I am repeating once again what I have already said many times - Russia has not threatened anyone before and it does not pose a threat to anyone now. The Russian Armed Forces are located there on the official territory of the Russian Federation, where it is considered necessary and expedient," said Peskov.
He added that Russian troops will be on the Ukrainian border "for as long as it will be deemed expedient by our military leadership and supreme commander-in-chief".
According to Apostrophe, on April 6, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and expressed his concerns regarding Russian military activity near the borders with Ukraine.
