Russian Navy began interspecific command post exercise in the Arctic

In the Northern Fleet (NF), an interspecific command post-exercise has begun, which is being held under the general leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, Russian Ministry of Defence reports.

It is reported that the Russian military will carry out rescue operations to provide assistance at sea in the region.

Special attention will be paid to ensuring the security of Russia's economic activities in the Arctic, conducting rescue operations and providing assistance at sea in this region, as well as resolving the possible crisis situations, protecting and defending maritime communications,” the Ministry stated.

Additionally, the Russian navy will check its level of readiness.

At the same time, the level of readiness of the fleet's military management bodies in planning and conducting actions in the Arctic Ocean area and in managing interspecific groups will be checked,” the statement reads.

At its various stages the navy exercises in the Arctic will involve nuclear and diesel submarines, ships of the Kola Flotilla of heterogeneous forces and formations of missile ships, support vessels, aircraft, military and special equipment of the air force and air defence army of the Northern Fleet of the Russian Federation.
