President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy says that the war against the Russian occupants has moved to a new stage - winter will complicate the military operations after the summer counteroffensive, which didn't bring the desired results because of a constant lack of weapons.
He made this statement in an interview to AP.
"We wanted faster results. From this point of view, unfortunately, we didn't achieve the desired results. And this is a fact," Zelensky answered the question of if he was satisfied with the results of the counteroffensive.
He added that Ukraine "has not enough strength to achieve the desired results faster." Besides, weapons restrictions don't allow a fast offensive.
"But this doesn't mean that we should give up, that we should give in. We are confident in our actions. We are fighting for what is ours," Zelensky noted.
At the same time, the head of state mentioned that over the past few months there have been some positive results at the battlefield. In particular, the activity of the Russian Navy in the Black Sea has significantly decreased after the Ukrainian attacks.
"We are losing people, I am not satisfied. We did not get all the weapons we wanted. I cannot be pleased, but I cannot complain too much," Zelensky said.
“And this is a fact that we are in a new phase of war. Winter in general is a new phase of the war,” Zelensky stated.
He also said that he fears that the war between Israel and Hamas threatens to distract the world's attention away from Russia's aggression against Ukraine. And these fears are increased by the concerns about the elections in the USA and their potential consequences for Ukraine.
