"We must put an end to Putin's regime": the main theses of Zelensky's speech in Davos

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered a special address at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, on January 16.

His speech was broadcast by the Office of the President.

Key theses of the address

First of all, the President emphasized, appealing to the participants of the WEF, that Russian President Vladimir Putin stole at least 13 years of peace from Ukrainian citizens, but gave pain and crisis. Considering this, called for consolidation in an effort to completely stop the Russian president's current policy and military strategy towards Ukraine.

"We must put an end to Putin's regime and his military strategy now, the entire free world must be unwavering in its actions against Putin," Zelensky emphasized.

He is sure that such regimes are able to exist as long as they wage wars. At the same time, the possible directions and timeframes of the Kremlin's new aggression outside Ukraine are becoming more and more obvious, so it is necessary to prepare for a worthy repulse.

"The world is constantly saying 'don't escalate', and a worthy response would be to simply teach them a lesson," he noted, emphasizing that the lives of many experienced warriors have been lost precisely because of the phrase "don't escalate."

Meanwhile, Ukrainians proved that they can hit enemy Russian airplanes, which no one had shot down before.

The Head of State also said that the imposed sanctions against Russia because of its aggression don't work, as it continues to produce missiles for further shelling of Ukrainian cities.

"The sanctions don't block Russia's ability to produce missiles," he said, emphasizing that the fact that Russia's nuclear sphere is not under sanctions so far, speaks about the weakness of the West.

In addition, he called for the transfer of Russia's blocked finances to rebuild Ukraine's destroyed cities.

"Russia's funds should be directed to the reconstruction of Ukraine," the President urged.

He noted that the frozen conflict sooner or later can erupt again, and every decrease in pressure on the aggressor continues the war. At the same time, he expressed hope that a just peace will come to Ukraine.

"The war will end with a just and stable peace. Our teams have already started working on the global peace summit," added Volodymyr Zelensky in the address.

Earlier, the President of Ukraine spoke in the US Senate about the current problems of security and economy in the country.
