The Latvian Ministry of Health will donate 80 units of medical equipment and devices to Ukrainian hospitals. The total amount of assistance from the country will be more than €340 thousand.
This is stated on the official website of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Latvia.
It is noted that the Latvian Ministry of Health will donate dozens of lung ventilators and patient vital signs monitors to the Chernihiv Regional Children's Hospital - the relevant draft resolution "On the gratuitous transfer of movable property into the state ownership of Ukraine"was approved by the Government on Tuesday, June 25.
The official website states the following: "Having assessed the requests for assistance, the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the Emergency Medical Service, the National Health Service and large hospitals, has identified available resources and opportunities to help hospitals and medical staff in their daily work. It was found that the industry can provide hospitals with lung ventilators and patient vital signs monitors, which are necessary for the provision of medical services, at the request of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration."
In response to the request, the Latvian Government decided to donate several dozen lung ventilators and other equipment to the Chernihiv Regional Children's Hospital:
"The Ministry of Health will hand over several dozen lung ventilators and patient vital signs monitors to the Chernihiv Regional Children's Hospital, which is currently operating in unprecedented war conditions, and will be distributed to other medical institutions in the country as needed."
A total of 80 units of medical equipment and devices will be delivered to Ukraine. The Entrepreneurs for Peace Foundation will be responsible for the transportation of medical equipment to Chernihiv Region.
The Ministry of Health of Latvia also reports that medical equipment will be transferred to Ukrainian hospitals from:
- North Kurzeme Regional Hospital Ltd,
- Madona Hospital LLC,
- Cesis Clinic LLC,
- Bauska Hospital LLC.
The transfer will be made in response to requests for assistance from Ukraine.
"The children's hospital of the State Enterprise "Center for Psychiatry and Narcology" will also receive the necessary equipment," the Ministry of Health added.
Delfi, referring to the main Latvian news agency LETA, adds that the total cost of medical equipment for Ukraine will reach €343,308.
