President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy may sign the previously approved draft of the security agreement with the EU on June 27 during his visit to the EU summit in Brussels.
This was reported by DW, citing sources in diplomatic circles.
It is noted that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to arrive in Brussels on Thursday, June 27, for the EU summit, where the security agreement between Ukraine and the European Union is to be signed. The agenda of the visit also includes a speech by Zelenskyy to EU leaders.
DW, referring to the text of the agreement obtained by Reuters, mentions that "the EU will commit to continue supplying weapons, training the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and other assistance for many years."
In addition, this security agreement will further enshrine the EU's commitment to assist Ukraine in nine areas of security policy, including cooperation in the defense industry and demining: "and in the event of future aggression the EU and Ukraine should hold consultations within 24 hours and "quickly determine" the next steps in accordance with the commitments".
These and other obligations of the security agreement will remain in force for the EU until "Ukraine continues its European path" - the conditions can be revised no later than in 10 years.
The total number of bilateral security agreements that Ukraine has already concluded has reached 17. The following countries have signed the agreements:
