Ukraine announced its readiness to purchase a large aid package from the United States

Ukraine has asked the United States to purchase a large package of assistance for the Armed Forces. The Ukrainian side is ready to consider this a security guarantee.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this at a meeting with media representatives.

He noted that Ukraine has informed the US that it is ready to continue paying for future assistance, rather than receiving it free of charge.

"Regarding the additional package, we want and we are ready, and we have handed over to the American side a large package that we want to buy. Buy in one form or another. This is our format, how we will pay for it. And we did not ask for the future package for free. We even count on it as a guarantee of security," the head of state said.

As is known, in early March 2025, the US President issued an order to suspend military aid to Ukraine until Kyiv "demonstrates a commitment to peace." Earlier, the US froze funding for the purchase of new weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The WSJ, citing sources, reported that without new military supplies from the US, Ukraine will likely have enough weapons to continue defending itself against Russian aggression at the current pace until the middle of the year.

We also wrote that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called on EU countries to purchase European weapons through a new European loan program. She presented a plan for rearmament of the European Union, which is a response to security threats to Europe in general and to Ukraine in particular.
