Zelenskyy was asked whether the US recognized Crimea as Russian

Deputy Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Denys Chistikov commented on the question of whether anything has changed in the official US position regarding the Russian-occupied Ukrainian Crimea.

Chistikov gave his comment on the air of "Apostrophe TV".

"As you have already noted, information from sources of foreign publications (information that the US, supposedly, will insist on recognizing Crimea as Russian territory in order to reach a peace agreement between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, - ed.) And this is not an officially stated position. We know that recently such information has been constantly appearing in the media. But in the future it is not confirmed," noted Deputy Permanent Representative Volodymyr Zelensky in Crimea.

Chistikov emphasized that today there is an official US position on maintaining the territorial integrity of Ukraine, which is enshrined, in particular, by their votes for the UN General Assembly resolution, as well as the Crimean Declaration.

"Therefore, it should be noted that at present the United States supports territorial integrity," the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Ukrainian President to Crimea emphasized.

At the same time, he said that after the appearance of such news (that Crimea may be recognized as Russian), the occupation authorities on the peninsula are intensifying repression and deportation of the local population deep into the Russian Federation.

Recall that earlier, the Ukrainian Crimean Tatar politician and public figure, the head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Refat Chubarov, came up with a defense for Sevastopol against the Russians in case the city was returned.
