"In documents of this kind, not only every word is important, but also every dot": what is the fundamental difference between the EU and US agreements

Ukrainian businessman, volunteer, founder and leader of the volunteer group "People's Rear" Georgy Tuka, commenting on the peace agreements for Ukraine from the US and the EU, published the day before, emphasized the fundamental difference between these documents.

The former head of the Luhansk Regional Military-Civil Administration, former Deputy Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine wrote about this on his Facebook page.

"Yesterday, the media published two versions of the "peace agreement" - the European and the American (Trumpist). The difference is fundamental and ... insurmountable," he points out.

He notes that the difference between the agreements is noticeable from the first sentence:

"Moreover, apart from the name, these "documents" have nothing in common, starting with the first line:

European version: "Commitment to a complete and unconditional ceasefire in the sky, on land and at sea."

American version: "Permanent ceasefire".

At first glance, the difference is small, writes Tuka. However, he clarifies that this is only at first glance:

"Because in documents of this kind, not only every word is important, but also every dot."

"Actually, both texts cannot be called "documents" in the full sense of the word, because each point of both proposals has a large number of questions to which there are no answers, " he comments. " According to the general theses set out in the texts, the European option is much more acceptable for Ukraine than the American one. In all issues: in defense, in the economy, in politics, and in security guarantees."

According to him, analyzing the points of the proposals, we can safely conclude that there is a long road ahead, which could take years, before any specific real agreement is concluded.

"... all Trump's bravura speeches are nothing more than the advertising babble of a showman (which we, Ukrainians, have long been familiar with as a genre). ps Also, we should not forget that this is not about an agreement between the USA, the EU and Ukraine! Unfortunately, there is also Russia," - Georgy Tuka notes in conclusion.

As a reminder, "Apostrophe" has already written about proposals to end Russia's war in Ukraine, which were presented by US special envoy Steve Witkoff to European officials.

In addition, Ukraine, together with the European Union (EU), conveyed to the United States their vision for ending the war with Russia.
