Tymoshenko states that referendum on establishing peace with Russia is unacceptable

According to Yulia Tymoshenko, Ukraine needs peace as a prerequisite for the state’s development. To achieve that, we need a strong army, more sanctions against the aggressor and holding international negotiations – not a referendum on establishing peace with Russia.

Tymoshenko announced her position during the “Pravo na vladu” (“Right to power”) program at “1+1”.

“Referendum is a great idea, but not in case of establishing peace in this war. A referendum cannot discuss and account for the nuances, and it cannot decide on all the little details of today’s situation in the East. It is unacceptable!” Tymoshenko explained.

“Batkivshchyna” leader remarked that today Ukraine needs a strong army, the unification of the international society, imposing stricter sanctions against Russia, and holding urgent negotiations without capitulation.

“We don’t need to talk about referendums – they are impossible. We need to talk about the consolidation of forces for building strong international support, so that Russia negotiates with Ukraine rather than with militants,” she underlined.

Yulia Tymoshenko has also noted that the Ukrainian society is very wise, standing up against the idea of a referendum.

“Any decisions against Ukraine and Ukraine’s national interests will not pass. That alone is an important achievement,” Tymoshenko commented.
