Rada adopts an important law on the president’s impeachment

On Thursday, June 6, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law that regulates the procedure of the president’s impeachment.

Rada has published this on its official Twitter page.

The new law, backed by 279 MPs, regulates the activity of temporary investigation commissions created for investigations during the process of impeaching the president.

The main reasons for calling a temporary investigation commission are violations of the Constitution and Ukrainian laws. The law also establishes the specifics of operation of special temporary commissions of the Verkhovna Rada.

Until today, Ukraine’s legislation provided for the president’s impeachment but didn’t have any legislative mechanisms to actually regulate the process.
