All of the three checkpoints on the border with Poland remain blocked by protesters. Currently, there are about 2,600 trucks at the border towards Ukraine.
This was told by Speaker of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko on air of Apostrophe TV.
" All three checkpoints: "Rava-Ruska-Hrebenne", "Krakivets-Korczowa" and "Shehyni-Medyka" on the Polish border, continued to be blocked. According to information from Polish colleagues, as of this morning, there are about 2,600 trucks on the border towards Ukraine. Most of all on the checkpoint "Shehyni-Medyka" - about 1,300 trucks. The traffic there is many times slower than it was before November 6, when the blocking began," - said Demchenko.
He added that the checkpoint "Yahodyn-Dorohusk" was unblocked on December 11. The increase of traffic in both directions was noted there.
" Over 1,200 trucks crossed this checkpoint in both directions yesterday. It is such traffic figures, which were before the Polish truckers' protest. Towards Ukraine the queue is about 1,700 trucks, but with such dynamics as now it will be reduced quite quickly," - said the speaker.
According to him, the traffic on the border with Slovakia was blocked only for entry, while there were no problems for trucks leaving Slovakia.
"Since Dec. 13, they began to lift the blockage, allowing several trucks to pass per day. The Slovak side reported yesterday the temporary unblocking for trucks going from Ukraine to Slovakia after 22:00 p.m. More than 130 trucks have now been able to cross the border towards Slovakia during the night. It is difficult to assume how long this will last, because the participants of the blockade may resume the protest," he said.
"At the checkpoint "Tisa-Zahony" since morning, there is a queue of 350 trucks waiting to enter Ukraine. The movement is in both directions, but you need to understand that the traffic on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border increased after the start of Polish hauliers' blockade, which forced carriers to look for alternative ways, including through Slovakia and Hungary," - added Demchenko.
Earlier "Apostrophe" reported that Ukraine fulfilled all the conditions for unblocking the border with Poland, which were previously agreed with the European Commission and official Warsaw.
